Hi, I’m Niall! I’m an R&D Software Engineer who fits somewhere at the intersection of Computer Graphics and Machine Learning. My passion, in its entirety, is simulation; I am obsessed with building the next generation of simulation tech. I have specific interests in Physics-Based Simulation & Animation, Neural Rendering, and VR/XR. I’m also a huge visual effects nerd.

I began my career in the visual effects industry (VFX) as an FX Technical Director at 17, working on multiple films, TV shows, and commercials, before transitioning to research-driven engineering through an MSc in Computer Science (High-Performance Graphics) as I converge toward my goal of working as a full-time Research Engineer.

I’m currently not active professionally while dealing with an event that has deeply impacted my health. This concerns an alleged Discrimination & Victimisation situation that occurred at Apple in June 2024.

On 4 June 2024, Apple intended to offer me a role working on visionOS for the Vision Pro and beyond within the Persona Body Animation / Tracking R&D team. During the final call, I disclosed my disability, including the fact that I had recently been diagnosed with ADHD (confirmed AuDHD) and had just started a new medication (Vyvanse). After I asked for reasonable adjustments (as per UK Law), Apple dropped me from the process. They spent the following 24 months denying the existence of an offer or that they committed discrimination and victimisation in the process. Apple’s stance to the justice system was that an offer or internal decision to hire never existed.

This has now led to a contempt case in the UK High Court: (KB-2025-003720). This is concurrent with the UK Employment Tribunal Case (6009910/2024), where Apple offered to pay me off in a settlement if I signed an NDA, whilst also stating they would draft a public apology acknowledging the harm… only to go totally silent the night after, and then attempt to blame me for misunderstanding (despite UK tribunal records). Further, Apple used this legal venue to make additional false statements in its employees’ witness testimony that contradict its position on prototype hardware security, disability accommodations, and many other matters.

The UK High Court contempt case resumes in the Michaelmas term of the UK Justice System (October), and Apple will face the UK Justice System, with allegations that it made knowingly false and misleading statements to a UK Court/Tribunal.

Ultimately, this event permanently damaged my career and life trajectory. My professional progress has been paused, and my health has significantly declined. Nonetheless, I am doing everything I can to not let Apple’s conduct define or destroy me.

I remain inspired by the R&D work of Apple’s engineers and scientists; however, I will continue to pursue justice for fellow disabled employees and candidates like myself, so we, too, can integrate into society and contribute to our research and product engineering.

On Apple’s 50th anniversary – 1 April 2026, I wrote an article about their attempt to have the High Court contempt case struck out, which, as noted, ultimately failed on 12 March 2026, exactly one year after I had written in depth to Mr Tim Cook himself.
